The Moto G5 plus was quite of a impressive phone providing performance with a capable camera. Pricewise, Moto phones are always more budget friendly. The new 6th generation Moto phones are also quite impressive with full body displays, efficient processors and highly upgraded cameras. The G6 plus is one of Moto's best smartphone till date in the midrange segment. The expected price has gone bit higher but the goods come in loaded with all the power you will ever need.
The G6 plus comes with the new Snapdragon 630 chipset and with an improved 12MP camera with the usual specs onboard just like the previous generation phones. Though tuning up the hardware was all ever needed, since G series smartphones were always up for their game. The G6 plus seems a new generation phone that has everything you are ever gonna need for exceptional smartphone experience. Is that so? Read below to find out.
The G6 plus comes with a trendy Full body display in a 18:9 ratio 1080p resolution. Prior like other G phones with FULL HD displays, the Full Body display option does a great job on covering the whole of the front, thus providing a bigger screen in a smaller body. The depth of the screen resides around 409 pixels per inch which is great for an almost 6 inch huge screen which also enhances viewing content on it including high quality videos, movies, playing graphics intensive games and specifically when using the camera.
The Body also comes in an Aluminium frame, thus the metallic look which gives premium to the phone. Also, the metallic frame comes below glass panes, both on the front and the back. That adds more to the premium. The G6 plus usually comes with curved edges (no edgy sides like in the G5S plus, which was great) which makes it comfortable and provides better grip when holding in a hand.
Powerwise, the G6 plus comes with everything loaded. A new Snapdragon 630 octacore chipset with the new powerful GPU (for intensive gaming) and lot. The core arrangement comes in eight 2.2Ghz Cortex-A53 cores that can run altogether for incredible performance. The 630 dosen't have low power or high power cores for individual tasking for better battery life, though it is built on a small 14nm fabrication process, the 630 is efficient enough for providing better battery performance even on small batteries. The 630 is equipped with the new Adreno 508 GPU which can run games well enough and also the 1080p screen fluently (though it can do more). Other features of the 630 chipset includes Fast charge 4.0, efficient core running for better battery life, better LTE speeds (upto 600 mbps), better image processors and camera support upto 24MP with zero shutter lag and better colour accuracy features, Better security features too.
The Snapdragon 630 is silently powerful for the G6 plus.
The main aspect of the G6 plus is its highly improved 12MP DUAL camera for better performance in low light. And the G6 plus does it. The new setup consists of a main rear 12MP with a wide f/1.7 lens on a 1/2.55" sensor with a 5MP depth sense camera. The 12MP comes with the usual DUAL PIXEL AutoFocus for faster focusing. The camera specs is similar to the previous G5 Plus but now with a depth sensor and the camera performance have been boosted up to the flagship level. The 5MP can aid the main rear 12MP for better blurs and subject separation during Macro/Bokeh shots (which the G6 plus captures amazing). The rear camera performs amazing with perfectly captured shots with accurate colours, great details. With a wide f/1.7 lens and a big 1/2.55" sensor, the G6 plus captures very good low light shots just like the Galaxy S7(with same lens and sensor). Video recording comes in 4K, smooth 1080p 60fps (though the 630 can capture 1080p 120fps) which are enough for quality video recording. The front camera is a simple 8MP on a f/2.2 lens with a LED flash and 1080p support.
The G6 plus finally gets a little upgrade on the battery, a 3200mAh pack then a regular 3000mAh that was common in all G series phones. Though a 3200mAh pack is OK for a 6 inch phone to run it for a day. Also, the Snapdragon 630 supports fast charge (Qualcomm's Quick charge 4.0 ) that can charge up the battery from 0-60 in 30 mins which can provide a day's backup for moderate usage. Also, the 630 is manufactured on a smaller 14nm fabrication process that uses very little power for high CPU loads with its all core active trick, including Qualcomm's All-Ways Aware technology that also uses little power for collecting extra information for integrated tasks.
Thus the G6 plus seems to be a perfect phone (also for the price) providing very good performance with high efficiency, highly improved Flagship grade DUAL camera and with a impressive Full Body display with simple yet awesome metallic body. Moto finally delivers a perfect G Smartphone that is able to compete well against the other midrangers.
