The new Asus Zenfone 5Z is one of the best phones which you can check out right now. Most probably, it is a good alternative for the One Plus 6 which also got released recently. But there are some features which doesn't sound perfect for a premium flagship as the 5Z was thought to be. Well it is an excellent phone for the price (6GB/64GB for 29,999 INR) since nothing even comes close to the 5Z. Even the minimum price of the One Plus 6 comes around 35,000 INR but it does come with better camera hardwares, better screen type and thus you pay the price for the goods you get.

Asus Zenfone 5Z |
The Zenfone 5Z is an amazing flagship but there are some things which could have been made better at least for the bigger variant. Wonder what are those? Check out below.
5 DISAPPOINTING THINGS IN THE ASUS ZENFONE 5Z
1. Display type could have been better
The Zenfone 5Z comes with a 1080p stretched display and that's good. But the display is an IPS LCD which is pretty old and are found on typical midranges and very few brands offer IPS screens for their flagships. IPS LCD type screens though consume less power and is a batterywise advantage but it is still less accurate in terms of colour production (LEDs have better black levels and better viewing angles) compared to LEDs displays
2. Too small screen resolution
The 5Z comes with a stretched FULL HD 1080*2246p display on a 6.2 inch screen size. That is good, but for a flagship grade, that is low. FULL HD displays are good enough for the midranges with less powerful GPUs to run the screen better, with minimum lag. But the Adreno 630 GPU in the 5Z has enough power to run 4K screens with zero lag. Though you wont be experiencing any lag during gameplay on the 5Z as the 630 can run the screen at constant 60fps (which is not even noticeable). Even higher quality 1080p is considered better than low quality high resolution 2K or 4K displays. But as for the camera shootout, recording 4K videos, more probably watching them on full quality (OK, near), using High resolution wallpapers, an 1080p display is not quite the choice for a premium flagship. Asus could have at least gone with a QuadHD display or UHD one provided the GPU is perfectly capable. Yap, that hurts.
3. Average Wide Angled Camera
The Camera module on the 5Z is good enough for the price. Not that good for a flagship. Atleast for the bigger 8GB variant since you will be paying a hefty amount of money. The 5Z's primary 12MP camera is good enough, only the 8MP one would have gotten better camera hardware. An 1/4" sensor is typically used for front cameras, depth sense cameras, not on wide. Even LG G5's 8MP wide angled had a bigger 1/3.2" sensor which was perfect for capturing enough detail. Well, providing a smaller sensor for a wide angle camera is off the worse, as it has to capture 3-4 times more detail than the primary one. Plus, a stabilization for the 8MP would have been good in case you use it for low light shots.
4. A much needed OIS system
The Zenfone 5Z does come up with a gyroscope guided EIS system for both of its primary and front camera too, that gets the job done, you will get mostly non blurred shots when shooting with slower shutter speeds. But as for a Flagship considered here, an OIS system would have much better suited the needs of non-shakiness. Most flagships do come with OIS systems for a lower price range too Even Asus zenfone 3 had an OIS system though it was just a midrange phone. Plus, an OIS system is actually better than EIS system.
5. Bit small battery
A 3300mAh pack works for a 10nm chipset in order to power the whole Zenfone 5Z for a day and there will be still be 15-20% of battery juice left. But thats on the moderate usage. Most of the flagship smartphones do go for a bigger battery (Ok atleast 3500mAh would be enough). Plus, the 5Z has a bigger 6.2 inch screen which would eat up much of the battery. The 845 in the 5Z is much power efficient, but do count for those powerful cores that will run if you play games at high or do something power intensive even for 1-2 hours. Well, the 5Z does come with Qualcom,'s Quick Charge 4+ which is can get you around 50% of charge in just 15 minutes, it would have been better if it would have with a slightly bigger battery.
Well, these are things if changed would have made the zenfone 5Z a true flagship smartphone and may be also the best one.
